Workout formats: AMRAPs, circuits, EMOMs, ladders and leaderboards

Set up AMRAPs, circuits, EMOMs and ladders in the plan builder using headings, supersets and your own variable labels, then build a leaderboard the same way.

QuickCoach's plan builder is flexible enough to set up most training formats. AMRAPs, circuits, EMOMs and ladders all come down to how you use headings, supersets and your variable labels. The same tools even stretch to a client leaderboard.

Watch the video walkthrough (4:20) to see each format built step by step.

Note: QuickCoach's features and screen layouts may change over time, but the core workflow stays the same.

The building blocks

Each format uses the same few tools in different ways:

  • Headings label a block, so you can write the rules for an AMRAP or circuit above the exercises.
  • Supersets group exercises that run back to back, which is how you build a circuit or an EMOM round.
  • Variables carry the detail. Rename a column to "Round", "Minute" or "Reps" to fit the format you're coaching.

New to headings and supersets? Start with using headings and supersets, then use the video above as a template for each format. All three building blocks are covered in full in the plan builder tour.

Create a leaderboard

A little friendly competition keeps clients motivated, whether it's against each other or their own past numbers. You can build a simple leaderboard right in the plan builder and share it with clients.

  1. Use headings to separate categories if you're tracking more than one.
  2. Use a single variable to share each outcome.
  3. In each task, include the category of information and the name of the client whose result you're sharing.

Tip: don't add these leaderboard tasks to your task library unless you want to track the results over time. Keeping them out stops your library filling with one-off entries.

What clients see

Clients view the leaderboard in their plan and can react in the results box. You can collect those reactions and share them back, or use them to show off what your clients are achieving. Because the leaderboard is just a plan, you deliver it the same way you assign any plan.

Running the same challenge across a whole roster? Leaderboards pair well with group coaching.
